This tool is provided to serve the following purposes:
To guide what depth the breech's in wall bodies should be set so not to require the use of trouble rings to hide the gap between the wall and the flange.
Where the in wall bodies are already in the wall it can be calculated whether extended bonnets & spindles are required and/or if trouble rings are required.

Other considerations to note:
Values and calculation are based on a wall flange with no trim. If ordering with a wall top assembly with a gold trim or chrome trim dress ring it will add 3mm of thickness to base of the flange, this reduces the maximum 𝑥 value by 3mm. This is not taken into account in the above calculation.
The trouble ring calculation applies an extra 1mm of thickness to help ensure the wall flange has enough engagement to hold the trouble ring in place against the wall.
One trick if needing an extra 1mm of thread to put the flange on you can double stack the red fibre washer. Please note this will affect (increase) the turn amount on Rapid Action spindles so do not do this on lever wall top assemblies.
Installing or servicing a Rapid Action bonnet & spindle should be done with a 7/8" AF square spanner (22.23mm AF square i.e. PA3917) or an adjustable wrench.
Installing or servicing a standard action bonnet & spindle should be done with a 21mm AF Hex tube spanner or an adjustable wrench.
